Orenji Sushi & Noodles

Tucked away in an unassuming location near the Issaquah community center, Orenji Sushi & Noodles is frequently described by local culinary enthusiasts as an “absolute gem.” Owners Mavis and Katia have built something special here — a restaurant centered on “Japanese soul food” with a philosophy of letting diners “eat with your eyes first.”

Ramen Program

The ramen program is exhaustive and highly technical. The classic Tonkotsu features a meticulously crafted chicken and pork bone broth served with thin noodles, pork chashu, kikurage mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and a soft-boiled egg. For those seeking intense heat, the 5-Alarms ramen uses a signature bone and chicken broth cooked with complex Asian spices, chilies, sesame, and peanut, topped with crispy garlic and jalapeño peppers.

The menu also caters to diverse diets with a Creamy Veggie Ramen, Veggie Tan Tan, and various Udon preparations including Soup Udon with Katsu Chicken or Beef and pan-fried Yakiudon.

Sushi

Orenji’s sushi menu spans from traditional Nigiri (Smoked Salmon, Ikura, Yellowtail, and occasionally rare items like Otoro and Uni) to highly elaborate signature creations. The Orenji Dragon — shrimp tempura, cucumber, and krab topped with seared salmon, spicy aioli, and tobiko — is a visual and flavorful masterpiece. The Tiger Orenji and Pink Lady rolls are equally impressive.

Beverages

The beverage program is thoughtfully curated to complement the food. Specialty non-alcoholic drinks include Iced Hokkaido Milk Tea, “The Blue Drink,” and Lemonade Boba. For cocktails, the Yuzu Lemondrop (vodka and premium sake infused with Yuzu juice) and JW Whisky Milk Tea are signatures.
